Museographic Collection
Nowadays, the collection of the Museum of thre Battle of Bailén is composed by historical, artistic, archaeological, bibliographic and documentary objects.
It is divided into two main areas: The Battle Collection of Bailén that it includes original pieces of the struggle (armament, ammunition, buttons, coins, a large number of replicas of the period uniforms or models of the battlefield) as well as a numerous original documentation (books, engravings, cartographic maps, epistolary testimonies, battlefield plans, etc .).
The archaeological collection is composed by a considerable number of pieces found by individuals in the municipality of Bailén. They demonstrate the uninterrupted occupation from the Upper Paleolithic to the present day. Remains of the lithic industry, such as choppers, bifaces or arrowheads, metal-age fíbulas, Ibero-Roman exudates or an extraordinary numismatic collection from Roman age stand out the importance of our territory in the past.
In addition, the museum has a large number of ceramic pieces from local pottery competitions, as well as a growing collection of paintings of diverse themes, which make the museum of the Battle of Bailén in one of the most varied collections of the province of Jaén .
